I remained disciplined about sketching selfies in June until my birthday (June 23) when I headed up to Belfast as I was having major knee surgery the following day. So here are a few selfies till that auspicious day!
I have loads of the driftwood charcoal that I made in Cill Rialaig last year (I described the process here) and I enjoy drawing with it. Black and white conté strengthen the drawing.
I think I intended to use the three-colour constraint here, but it looks like I may have used four different pastels…
I have said before that I am not happy with the paper in the sketchbook when it comes to doing watercolour, so I have been using chalk pastels for my favourite three-colour constraint.
I have also been enjoying drawing with the fineliner pens at my disposal.
I really dislike using brown, so I just pretended the brown watercolour cake (previously unused) was an ink and went for some tonal quality.
A sketch using a 12B from my pencil set.
Another chalk pastel sketch using my favourite three-colour restraint.
Before heading to the North, I did a final June sketch on my birthday and used one of the fineliner pens at my selfie station.
